Daniel Gervais is Associate Professor of Intellectual Property Law at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and holds the Milton R. Underwood Chair in Law at Vanderbilt University Law School, where he directs the Intellectual Property Program. He is the author of The TRIPS Agreement: Drafting History and Analysis, a leading guide to the treaty governing international intellectual property rights. Before entering academia he was Legal Officer at the GATT (now the WTO), Head of Section at WIPO, and Vice-President of the Copyright Clearance Center. He was elected to the Academy of Europe in 2012, is a member of the American Law Institute, where he serves as Associate Reporter on the Restatement of the Law, Copyright, and is a former president of ATRIP.
