Alba Ribera Martínez

Brief info

Dr. Alba Ribera Martínez is a scholar of EU digital regulation whose research addresses the governance of digital platforms and data-driven markets. Her work bridges academic analysis and institutional practice, feeding from conversations across stakeholders and disciplines. She has advised competition authorities in Spain, Catalonia, and Latin America, contributed expert input to French, Brazilian, and European regulatory processes, and published in leading competition and technology law journals in several languages.
She holds a PhD in Competition Law from University Carlos III of Madrid, awarded cum laude for her thesis "Move Fast and Break Nothing: EU Competition Law Interacting with Data Protection Interests." Before joining VU Amsterdam, she was a Lecturer in Competition Law at University Villanueva and worked at the Spanish competition authority (CNMC) as an Assistant Researcher to the Council. She is Editor-in-Chief of Stanford Computational Antitrust and edits the Surveys section of the Journal of European Competition Law & Practice.
She continues her projects The DMA Agora and The Binary Agora as part of her research on the future of digital platform regulation.
