At the VU, my task is mainly teaching an honours class in Emerging Risks and Regulation (probably with cases drawn from the domain of work) as well as supervising some theses in labour law. No time for research at the VU. But my research interest is mainly in the same field as my teaching: Emerging Issues Labour Law more generally, such as emerging risks in Occupational Health (new chemical agents, 5G, robotics, heat stress) as well as the effects of Artificial Intelligence in the domain of labour. Currently also a strategic researcher at the Dutch Labour Inspectorate, responsible for futures studies and detecting ‘weak signals’, as well as research into the use of new technologies in occupational health surveillance (sensoring, block chain).
